Recently CatholicCare facilitated a Creative Youth Competition for 10-18 year olds living in the Blue Mountains, where we asked them to be creative and send in original works.

In this series, we will be displaying the winning entries across the different age categories.

This post will highlight our 1st Place Winner in the 13 to 15 year old category – Dakota. Congratulations!!!

“I painted this during my Covid 19 isolation. I found lockdown very challenging being away from my peers and daily extra-curricular activities. I am also an only child so I didn’t have brothers and sisters to interact with while my parents were working. Practicing my art allows me to be creative and wander into my own world where I can be free and calm. ‘Mindscape’ shows me in a place where, even though I was isolated physically, mentally I could climb to any place I wanted to be and dream of anything I wanted to do.”
